Literacy Reflection W8 T2

Granddad description
This week we had to chose a family member to write a description on. I chose my granddad because I live next to him and I love him. I think I did well and I really enjoyed writing it. Here is my writing!

In a little town called Greymouth, there was a very tall man. He was quite old and smiles a lot. His name is Barry Brown and he lives next to his grandchildren, daughter and son-in-law. He enjoys taking his dog Peppy for walks and fixing things. He also has a garden that he shares with his daughter. Even though he grows lots of vegetables, his wife Tess buys them from the supermarket anyways. He has grey, silky hair that shines in the sun, and if you ever talk to him, remember to raise your voice as he might not hear you!

this week I finished all my word work words, so next week I'm going to start using list 6+ instead of 6. Here is my work!

Summary: Dan wants to be like Sherlock Holmes. He wanted to solve mysteries. So when he sees mums boyfriend Big Dave has a tattoo saying Caroline, he decides he needs to solve this mystery. Then he finds a pregnant tester in the bathroom trash, sees his dad on tv, and things get messy. Will he find out the answers to the mysteries? What will happen next?

I really enjoyed this book and definitely think that everyone over 9 should be able to read this.

Literacy W7 T2

Art Recount

On Monday and Tuesday, I had art talented. There were lots of cups, flowers, feathers and other things on the table being displayed. We each got one piece of paper and charcoal pencil, then we had to decide on something we wanted to draw. We had to sit at the same angle for the one sketch we do. We got 5 minutes to do one piece, then we could either do it again or move and do another piece. After lots of warming up, we could choose our favorite piece and enlarge it onto another piece of paper. After doing one copy, we traced it again on another piece. The reason that we did that was because we were doing a warm coloured painting and a cool colored painting. I started drawing at the end of Monday, and started painting at morning tea of Tuesday.

I did my backgrounds first so well one background is drying, I could do another background. Then I started painting the leaves and flowers. I did the same: One first then left that to dry well doing my other one. I figured out that it was easier to paint the water reflection before painting the stems of the flowers and leafs, so that you can see the stems and not accidentally cover it.

I really enjoyed doing it and would like to do it again.

Reading

This week my reading group read a short story called Leave. We had to write a summary to make people want to read it. Here is what I did!

Word Work
This week I did word work. The hardest was silly sentences because I couldn't think of a silly way to write my sentences.



Power Writing

This week for power writing, Billie-Jean, Emil, Katelynn and I made a slide about the cutest animals and reasons why. I really enjoyed writing about my favorite animals and looking for adorable pictures. I some of mine have stories/memories about that type of animal. Next time, I think I will do a slide about my favorite foods.

I would give this book a rating of  4  stars

I recommend this book for 10 year olds

Cross Country Writing

This Monday, we did a cross country run. I wrote a recount story about it. I really liked writing it and I think I did a good job. Here are photos of it! 

Power Writing

This week for power writing I started writing a story about Kawaii Pun Land where everyone spoke in puns. In the story everyone was sad, and a Kawaiian named Kira Kira (Glitter in Japanese) decided she needed to do something. I haven't finished the story yet but I can't wait to start it!!

Assembly

Last week at assembly, I got a key com certificate. I got it for good work during literacy and art. Here is a photo of everyone. I am happy that I got the certificate and am happy that the others also got one.
