30bc- 12th book

Darkling wood

After Alice's brother gets a new heart, mum has to stay with Theo (her brother) in the hospital. Alice stays with her stranger grandmother, and she barely knows her. She sees a girl in the forest, and little does she know, Flo, the girl in the woods, is her grans great great grandmother. Her grandmother wants to cut the wood down, but as Flo says, the fairies are using their magic to stop her. "They need you to believe, Alice. Just believe.'"

I enjoyed this book and hope to read The Girl Who Walks On Air soon. I got the book from the library.

Midnight

This Book is about a girl named Violet and her brother Will. Violet makes a lot of felt  fairies, and she meets a girl named Jasmine. Jasmine becomes her best friend,  and she protects Violet from being bullied. The book is called Midnight because one night, Will gives her a note telling her to look out her window when it is midnight, and she doesn't know what is behind the window...
I didn't really enjoy the book, but it was ok; I rate it a 3 out of ten.

The Abominables

Book by Eva Ibbotson

Father (the father yeti) is worried. He needs help with his three baby yetis. So, he sets off to find himself taking a young lady from her tent. Lady Agnatha. She looks at the children and stares. 

For around 90 years, she stays with the yetis and teaches them to read, write and (most importantly) talk. The yetis go on an adventure all the way from country to country, to London. The yetis think their safe there, but NO! They need to be saved quick.

I got the book from the libary. I hope you read it! It's a great and heart breaking book...

Here is my word work sentences. It took a while to think of sentences, and I only had one day to finish all my work because I was sick all week.


Numeracy


For numeracy, I had to complete my decimals DTO. Here it is. I forgot a little, but I went back on https://www.khanacademy.org/ and watched the videos and the activities. 

Typing Test

Today, I got 44 wpm (Words Per Minute), 100% Accuracy, finished at only 0:38 seconds! 
I bet Miss P's Accuracy, but she got 48 wpm!

Bonus Reflection


Bonus Activities

After I did my W7 reflection, I did bonus activities. First, I did ten minutes of typing tests. I finished two tests, and 3 lessons.

 Then, I did Kiwi Kids News Summering. Here is my summarize. I did it on Bill Gates donates 100,00 chickens to poor. Here it is.

After that, I did the kiwi kids news. I got 90% right. 














I had fun doing the extra activities and would do it again.

30bc Book 2

The Green Glass Sea 

I read The green glass sea for my second 30bc book. The book is about the Manhattan project.t is 1943, and 11-year-old Dewey Kerrigan is travelling west on a train to live with her scientist father {but no one will tell her exactly where he is.}  
Dewey likes too go to the dump a lot to collect random items. Here are some characters: Dewey, Suze, Mrs. Gordon {Suze's mum}, Dr. Gordon {Suze's dad}, Oppie.

30bc, Book 8!

Clementine for Christmas


This book, by Daphne Benedis-Grab, is about Josie, Oscar and Gabby.

Josie and her dog, Clementine, volunteer with the kids at the local hospital. Josie loves dressing up in silly costumes, singing carols, and helping to prepare for the big Christmas Festival. That is, until she learns that this year's Festival is cancelled.

Meanwhile, Oscars parents constant fighting makes his home feel like a battlefield, and to make matters worse, he gets into trouble at school. His punishment is spending the holiday season volunteering at the Frost Ridge hospital – even though he hate Christmas.

Gabby's life seems perfect. She's stylish, smart, and everyone looks up to her... But Gabby has a secret, and that could ruin everything. And when she winds up in the hospital, she's sure the truth will be discovered


Then, as if things couldn't get worse, Josie's beloved Clementine disappears, Oscar's parents separate, and Gabby's secret is uncovered. 

The book is amazing, and I should have read it last Christmas!

Summary: Vicky Angel is about a girl named Jade, whose best friend died in a car crash – and she thinks it was her fault. Jade sees Vicky, even though shes dead. The ghost of Vicky makes Jade do mean things, hurting others feelings. A doctor comes, but she might not be able to help Jade, but who knows? Maybe she has a good idea...


I read the book really fast, enjoying every page; I would write a whole review on a single page if I had to... Not that I want to, so don't even think of asking! 

30bc- Book 6

Title: Clean Break

Summary: Emily, Vita and Maxie are opening there Christmas presents, sitting on a big bed with Mum and Em's step – who Vita and Maxie's real Dad is. All of a sudden, Dad's gone, Mum's crying, and Gran's shaking her head. Will she ever see Dad again? She hopes so, and so does Vita and Maxie.


This book is very sad and touching, and I give it a 4/5 star.

I had fun reading the book, it had exciting, scary, sad moments. In the end, everything connects, and the whole story makes sense.

30bc Book 4



The Last Wild
The last wild is a book about a boy named Kester Jaynes who is stuck in a world were there are no animals. The animals have been affected by the red eye disease, also known as the berry eyes.He can't talk, not since his mother died and he was brought to the Hall. He sees a cockroach, which talks to him. He is amazed that he can talk to animals. Kester leaves with the cockroach, who he calls the General. He meets other animals, some humans, and becomes the Wildness.
I recommend this book to 8~any age, because it has a lot of excitement and scary parts. I enjoyed the book, and I give it 4 stars.

Dumpling Days By Grace Lin

Summery: I chose this book because it includes my favorite food- DUMPLINGS! This book is about Pacy Lin, the heroine of Year of the dog [my first 30bc book ] and Year of the Rat [a book I'm going to read soon!].

 I enjoyed the book, especially the part where Pacy goes to Taiwan, where I am from.               I recommend this book to 8~11 year olds, and give it a 5 star.
